For more than half a century since the appearance of the musical theater in the capital of the Altai Territory (until 2018 - the theater of musical comedy), more than 250 performances have been staged on its stage. A documentary film was shot and an album was published about the creative life of the only musical theater in the region.

The performances of the operetta theater (as the townspeople also call it) are accompanied by one of the best theater orchestras in Siberia. The stage action is famous for its luxurious costumes and spectacular decorations. Even in the most difficult years, when state funding for staging activities ceased, the theater of musical comedy replenished its repertoire with new performances, remaining the most visited in the region. Many performances in the genre of classical operetta and original ones - based on the works of local authors - withstood more than a hundred performances and did not leave the stage for many years. Now, among fans of the genre, the theater is conducting a vote, restoring performances that are especially loved by the audience.

The musical comedy troupe unites young people and leading stage masters - honored artists of Russia, laureates and diploma winners of international and Russian competitions. Concert programs prepared by them, choreographic, musical-drama and show performances enjoy stable success with the audience. In addition, the stage of the musical theater is a permanent site for touring concerts and performances of popular artists, city competitions and festivals.
