The Barnaul private zoo has grown to 5 hectares on the territory of the Lesnaya Skazka park from a small zoo corner. At the end of 2016, there were more than 50 open and closed enclosures for wild and domesticated animals - large and small, carnivorous and herbivorous, birds, waterfowl and ungulates. Of the nearly one and a half hundred pets of the "Forest Fairy Tale", represented by 52 species, 16 are listed in the Red Book.

The collection of "Forest Fairy Tale" annually grows with a significant number of new animals: they are bought, received by exchange from zoos in other cities and from districts of the region, where it is possible to save wild animals and birds in trouble. The zoo publishes interesting and detailed photo, video and audio information about new and permanent inhabitants on the website and in social networks, it also has a video channel on YouTube.

The space between the zoo's aviaries is replete with flower beds, picturesque alpine slides and decorative elements of landscape design - photo zones, mini-sculptures from the world of fauna, and recreation corners. In 2016, partners of the zoo built a small indoor pavilion on its territory for holding art exhibitions.

In the "Forest Fairy Tale" they constantly organize holidays for the townspeople - thematic and gastronomic, family tournaments, friendly championships and children's contests. Hundreds of thousands of guests pass through the territory of the Barnaul Zoo every year with excursions and private visits.
