The Chuisky tract museum is the only one in Russia dedicated to the road. It presents the history of the Chuisky tract from the pack trail to the modern P-256 highway.

The Chuisky tract led travelers through dizzying passes to Mongolia and China, merchants-Chuis traveled here with their goods, famous people traveled, whose life and work are closely connected with the tract - V. Obruchev, G. Potanin, N. Roerich, V. Sapozhnikov, V. Shishkov, V. Shukshin, M. Evdokimov.

The museum presents expositions telling about all climatic zones of Altai, about common and rare species of animals, birds, fish, plants.

The oldest history of the development of Altai is represented by the paleontological collection, which has been formed since the founding of the museum. From the mineral resources of Altai, samples of various ores, mineral raw materials, colored clays and facing stones are presented.

The pride of the collection is a variety of ornamental stones and beautiful druses. Among them is the Ravine jasper - it was used to create the "Queen of Vases", which is currently kept in the Hermitage. Ridder breccia - it was used in the construction of columns for the Cathedral of Christ the Savior in Moscow.
