The State Philharmonic Society of the Altai Territory is located in a building that is an architectural monument of federal significance - "People's House". In Barnaul, it was created at the initiative of the Society for the Care of Primary Education. Its construction was supposed to make up for the lack of a stationary theater, and the People's House itself was planned as the center of the city's cultural life.

The Philharmonic has been housed in the building since 1975. The building was reconstructed in 1999-2008. The Philharmonic Concert Hall meets the best acoustic standards, is equipped with modern sound, light, multimedia equipment, which allows concerts of world-class musicians. Musical instruments meet high standards: the Steinway grand piano and the organ, reconstructed in 2011.

The philharmonic society employs professional groups of the region: the symphony orchestra, the Russian dance ensemble "Ogonyok" them. Garry Polevoy, male vocal ensemble, folk song ensemble "Vecherki", instrumental chapel "KamerAns".
