The middle mountains,where the Tigireksky reserve was created,is a transitional zone from the Siberian steppes to the mountain systems of Altai and Sayan. Forest-steppe andrough taiga, rare species of fauna make up a special value of this territory, which received the status of a protectedin 1999.

One of the youngest nature reserves in Russia is relatively small -41.5 thousand hectares(for example, in the neighboring Altai Republic there are reserves many times and even tens of times larger). It covers the western partTigirek ridgeand the eastern part of Kolyvansky, the upper part of the Belaya river basin and its watershed with the upper reaches of the Alei river. Another large river in the reserve isbeauty-inya- well mastered by water sportsmen.

The forested eastern slopes of the protected mountains slope steeply down to river valleys that often run alonggorges and canyons... Alpine mid-mountainous relief distinguishes the more southern part of the buffer zone.

The mountains

"Visiting card" of the territory -Shlyapnaya mountain, which is located in the buffer zone of the reserve, 2 km west of the village of Tigirek. And the highest reserved peak (2200 m) ismountain black.

The first in the scientific community to receive famemountain Loose stone(now - Developed). IN1767 yearit was climbed by a naturalist and correspondent of the St. Petersburg Academy of SciencesEric Laxman... He determined the height of its peak above sea level (1962 m) with his own hand made mercury barometer. Onmountain developmentberyl was mined in the 19th century,emeralds, rose quartz, aquamarineand other semi-precious and semi-precious stones. The most beautiful view of the Tigirek developed in the amphitheater opens from the panoramic platform on the ridge of the Leafy Mane.

Travel Tips

Staying on the premises of the reserve is allowed only with a pass. You need to issue it no later than two weeks before leaving for the reserve. In the application to the address of the administration of the reserve, you should indicate the purpose of the visit (educational tourism, professional photography / video filming, transit through the protected zone), the exact route of movement, the duration of stay on the territory, the surname of the group and the contact details of the senior. Nonresidents can receive a pass by mail if they make a note in the application.

The reserve is located in the southern part of the Altai Territory - on the territory of the Zmeinogorsk, Tretyakov and Krasnoshchekovsk districts (35 km south of the Chineta village, 2 km from the Tigirek village and 70 km west of Zmeinogorsk).

How to get there
Most often people get to Tigirek through the village of Chineta, Krasnoshchekovsky district. The journey is mostly off-road and takes two to six hours.
